Weather Watch - August 2025
The latest Weather Watch reports that July 2025 was among the warmest months on record with temperatures reaching 35.8°C. While rainfall has moderated the increase in soil moisture deficit (MORECS), levels remain consistent with previous surge years such as 2018 and 2022. Consequently, Crawford’s surge risk status is currently classified as ‘high amber’ due to the following factors:
- Initial indications of clay shrinkage subsidence have been observed
- Forecasts anticipate persistent warm, dry weather extending into September
- Claim volumes are increasing, maintaining the likelihood of a surge
