The right to repair
In July 2021, the UK introduced the Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products and Energy Information Regulations 2021, commonly referred to as the “Right to Repair” law.
The impact of this law is likely to lead an increase in consumer and professional repairs being undertaken. An increase in such repairs should be taken into consideration as part of any liability investigation, although as is currently the case, the effects can be mitigated by obtaining a thorough repair history and the right technical assistance to spot anomalies in the physical evidence.
