He is a seasoned insurance professional with an impressive career that has resulted in a successful leadership journey and impressive business results. With decades of experience in the property and casualty business, he has consistently demonstrated strong leadership of both businesses and teams.

Van Bakel joined Crawford in 1992 and has served in several leadership positions within the organization. In these roles, he excelled in developing high performing teams and leveraging technology to deliver best-in-class service. He is a frequent public speaker, contributor to trade media and is an active member in several industry associations.

Van Bakel earned a bachelor’s degree from Wilfrid Laurier University’s School of Business and Economics in 1992. He lives in Campbellville, Ontario, and enjoys spending time with his wife, Janice, and two children, Brett and Erika.
